I went to donorschoose.org today looking for projects in rural Oregon, and lo, there were none. Jefferson County (where my beloved Camp Sherman is located, but not Bend) has a population of 30,000 (how's that for rural!) and they keep closing schools and libraries because they're broke. Donorschoose.org would be such a good vehicle for them... So, I found one project in Bend and I supported it, thinking that if that one teacher is successful then he'll tell everyone else & next year more people will use the site as part of their fundraising. <br/><br/>Funny thing (funny/sad), my kid's school is wealthy and well-funded but the school I donated to, which is maybe 5 miles from my house at most, has 45% of students qualifying for free-and-reduced.
