My son wants to make a cake for his sister. And he wants it to say: “I love you Jo. I know you are at a sleepover right now. And I will see you when you come home. Love, Opie.” (We only had enough cakes for parts 1 and 4.)
I know it’s a big fat jinxy risk to say this (especially heading into 72 hours of nonstop Together Time) but these kids, they get along. They love each other, and they show it. They share. They back each other up. They want to spend time together. It is a beautiful thing.
Of course I also know it doesn’t really have anything to do with me being a good mom. I am just very lucky. But I try hard to notice and acknowledge and praise.
And supply cake mix.
Thanks for the prompt, Julie.

That is so cute. So so so so cute.
Hooray! Love it!
Thank you.
That is a beautiful thing. My kids love each other, I know, but they fight CONSTANTLY. Sigh.
Awwww, that is so sweet! (emotionally and sugar-wise, both)
I wish I knew the secret. Mine fight if they are together for more than 5 minutes. Really. Last night I picked them up from daycare, we walked to the car, buckled in, pulled out of the lot & one of them spied a flyer in my tote bag. Maggie wanted to read it so I handed it to her. Will, naturally; wanted it too. He’s 3. He can’t read yet. For the next 5 minutes, they argued over who got to hold the paper. Me, being the wonderful, caring, nurturing mom that I am; yelled, ” GIVE ME THE STUPID PAPER!!! IF YOU TWO ARE GOING TO FIGHT OVER IT, NEITHER ONE OF YOU CAN HAVE IT!!!” Yes, they both cried the remainder of the 15 minute ride home. I suck.
That is a beautiful thing! Not only do they have that wonderful relationship which you set the stage for, you also made the cake with your son! You definitely get a Mom of the Year Award for that!
Aw, I’ll second your nomination for a Mom of the Year award.
you’re a great mom! and that’s so cute.
