I saw Julie & Julia last night. I wish I could have seen it with someone who blogs, but my local friend C. is something of a foodie, so that helped. And what can I say about a movie that combined blogging, droolicious food, Paris, Julia Child, and Meryl Streep? I loved it.
Afterward, my friend and I attempted to get a glass of wine and something to eat that involved either cheese or chocolate. Guess what: In Mayberry, on a Sunday night? NO CAN DO. Disappointing. Having a drink at home by myself didn’t really seem worth the calories.
Like everyone else, I wish I could think of some amazing blog-to-book-to-movie concept. Not even for the money. I just think it would be a cool challenge. But so far, I haven’t come up with anything that’s quite right. I’ve considered, then discarded the following:
- My One Houseplant: How Long Can I Keep It Alive?
- The 365-Day Shred
- Potty Training Tip of the Day
- Finding My Inner Martha Stewart
- One Mom’s Quest to Become a Champion Sturgeon Spearer
- Super-Size Mom: What Happens If I Eat a Dozen Doughnuts a Day?
- That’s Doctor Spiderwoman to You: Pursuing My PhD in Entomology
- Tattoo-a-Day Diary
- The Cathy/Katharine Project (I remake all of Hepburn’s movies, starring myself)
Any suggestions? I’m open. We could make it a group project.

I could definitely write the Super Size Mom one. Sigh.
Weird smells coming from the closet (or child)-per day . . .
Even if these don’t have big screen potential, I think you could successfully pitch them to A&E or NatGeo.
We could do the SuperSize followed by a Shred sequel.
I love the sturgeon one, but the Hepburn one slayed me.
The Hepburn one was too funny! I say go for it. Make it a series of Vlogs. Maybe enlist your children to be producers or camera crew.
How about:
Caffeine: A Love Story
This is hilarious. Genius!
Super size mom. I’m ready.
I’m glad to hear this was good. I’m trying to see it this week too, ever since I figured out what it was about.
Tattoo a day! That one made me laugh.
(Except I think there’s already a show like that on TV. Ink? Something like that?)
LOL – love the Cathy/Katherine idea. Get on that right away! And you may have something there with the sturgeon. I saw a reality show recently about a mom in Alaska who caught her own fish as it was their main source of food for the winter. I was rivited, surprisingly. What is it about fishing shows??
I have a bazillion craft books in my closet. I buy them, I put them on my wish list for Christmas – and I even browse them from time to time. But very rarely do I ever make anything from them. Inspired by my friend Heidi who writes 101cookbooks.com, I told her that I was going to do 101 craft projects, following the directions in the books.
She looked at me and said very seriously, “It is very very time consuming.”
I gave up on the spot. In my fantasy however, I am actually doing the craft projects, photographing them and blogging them.
i like the Tattoo-a-Day Diary. i’m in.
How I Learned to Stop Yelling at My Children: The Super-Glue Lip Project.
Haven’t seen Julie/Julia, but the Cathy/Katherine idea would seem a perfect answer to the theme! Can’t wait for Philadelphia Story!
OK I just seriously laughed out loud with the “Super-size mom” one. OUT LOUD.
This post is hysterical!
I’m all for the Hepburn-remake project. A movie a day, now that’s something to strive for!
If you find yourself in Portland on a Sunday (or any other night, really), I will take you to Pix, where you can get dessert, cheese and drinks. http://www.pixpatisserie.com
