1. Good news follow-up from my last post: Both children are at school today. All day (if my phone rings I am not going to answer it). I had a celebratory egg sandwich from Starbucks.
2. Bad news follow-up from my last post: Day 11 of the migraine. Have tried three potent drugs (one of which was delivered by jab where the sun don’t shine) which didn’t work and am now on a course of steroids. And yes I do feel just! a bit! hyper!
3. Apropos of nothing follow-up from my honesty post: Because of #7, if you use pseudonyms for your children on your blog, I am deadly curious to know their real names. Not for any nefarious reason, though.
4. Not a follow-up, but a prelude: If you consider your blog “small”–in readership, reach, presence or absence on PR radar screens, however you want to define it; and if you think you might be going to BlogHer next summer (in New York City, August 6-7), would you raise your hand? is blogher here? Like: “here”?
I’m “small.” I’ve been blogging since late April of this year and have about 90 subscribers/followers. I get a few random PR offes here and there from other “small” people. I plan on going to BlogHer in ’10 so my blog and I can GROW!
I love blogging and I’m happy to have any readers at all. I’d really like to grow it though. I’ve been pretty successful on Twitter- at about 756 followers now @MadMomMission.
Thanks for the call out!
You know, I haven’t decided. I’ll probably go though. Or be here. What ever.
(It’s the hotel that’s an issue; I can’t justify staying in a hotel if I can get on the train and be home in an hour…)
Wow – 11 days of migraine? That’s just AWFUL. I’m so sorry. But glad at least your kids are back at school.
Yes, blog is small and yes, will probably go to Blogher because it will be so close to me. Assuming of course that I still have a blog by then because boy have I been neglectful!
Hope that migraine goes away soon. Do you want me to come up there and beat it out of you?
Yeah, I just started using pseudonyms for my kids instead of saying “my daughter” and “my son” all the time.
Wait, I haven’t said his yet. It’s Harry.
I’m a small time blogger who wants to go to BlogHer10. But that’s relatively speaking. Bigger than some, smaller than others.
Oh, feel better sweetie!
And Bryan and I both plan to go to BlogHer in NYC next year!
1. Yay!
2. Ick!
3. You’ve heard ‘em, and I get curious too
4. I’ll be there
I didn’t know that BlogHer would be in NYC. I may go! And yes, I consider my blog small.
Oh my goodness girl. 11 days of Migraines. Holy cow! Here’s hoping the steriods help!
I don’t know if I’ll go to BlogHer. I haven’t been in a few years. I kind of am getting to a point where I’m ready to call it quits. Put my little blog out of its misery. But I continue because I keep waiting for some grand ephiphany to tell me what I should do next.
Are you going?
Glad everyone is back in school, but 11 days with a migraine? Good grief! I hope the steroids help!
I, too, am fascinated by baby names.
Small blog. Because, well, I’m not that exciting. Plus I haven’t been posting much lately. No blogher for me.
Re #4 – yes, small, and yes, hoping and planning to go. Have already started to make plans about how Chris can be with the three short people while I am gone.
I’m considering BlogHer this year, but first I have to get my head back into blogging. My *very small* blog has been quite neglected lately, making its reach even smaller. eeek.
Small? Yes. BlogHer? No.
Hope the migraine is gone. Really.
My kids names? Gladly share – just shoot me an email:

Re:#3 – it’s really just Jack.
Re:#4 – I’m certain that my place in cyberspace is teenytiny, in all respects and not relatively speaking. But I’d love to go to BlogHer, and I just might.
Well, my blog is really small (never more than one or two comments, rarely that, only 2 followers…) and I’m not bothered particularly. I mean, yeah, I’d love to be famous and all, but I’m not devastated either that it’s obviously not going to happen…
For Blogher, I’d love to go, I really would. I’ve only ever been to the US once, way back in April 2001, and that was a week in NYC. I loved it, every minute of it! The problem of course is finance – it’s a long way from France, and our summer holiday will be just before those dates and you can bet your life my bank account will be screaming bloody murder. It’s also kind of scary, the idea of being with so many people so much more successful, tech-savvy etc. than I am… But I’ll mull it over.
Oh, and by the way, I almost have your dream job: I’m a freelance translator, it’s just that I don’t do novels, but research articles and websites and stuff. It’s a greatly underrated profession, but I enjoy it, even if my pathological lack of discipline means I have to sit up till 2 am finishing things for the next day…
For my daughters’ names, they’re sort of in code because I don’t want anyone who knows me to find my blog, but I can tell you that my elder daughter (who’ll be 8 on 27 December) is Carla Noémie and the younger one (who’ll be 6 on 27 April) is Lydie Rebecca. And yeah, I love babynames too (no intention of having n°3, just like names)!
