Have we ever talked about dream jobs? What is yours, assuming salary, education, background, location, etc. are no object? Mine is translator of French novels.

I always wanted to be a translator for the UN. (French of course!)

I got into cooking school so that I could become a pastry chef. But as it goes for so many young (naive) women in their 20′s an ex talked me out of following my dream. And then when we split, the asshole announced that HE was going to cooking school (he never did).

If I could have any job and if I didn’t need money to pay for my kids’ college, I would own a tiny little bakery that also sold used books, particularly cookbooks.

And the French word that I learned today? Oubliette (I’m listening to My Life in France by Julia Child.)

Director and choreographer of my own dance company (which I’ve done) with wonderful dancers (had them too) to whom I could pay a good salary (that’s the fantasy part) with our own gorgeous, roomy theater and rehearsal space (more fantasy).

I just want to be asked interesting questions, and to be given the time to formulate an answer on paper. I think that means my dream job is college professor. Or professional blogger.

Rock star. ;-)

My more “realistic” dream job would be a photographer for National Geographic.

Poet Laureate or virtuoso pianist

Quilter.

Oh. Wait. I do that.

Ok – I want to quilt and make money from it.

I would want to be a food stylist and photographer. With the occasional opportunity to bake or cook what I would be taking pictures of, and the ongoing opportunity to eat whatever really appeals to me. ;-)

(and of course, since we’re already in dreamland, I would want the monster metabolism to enable me to eat everything in sight without gaining a pound!)

I would be a world renoun actress on Broadway. Living my life in the theatre, making plenty of money for a house, college for my children, and enough left over to give to a worthy charity. For now I work in human services and just auditioned and got a part in our little community theatre last night! Living part of the dream!

I’d settle for a mom, with an Alice to cook, clean and babysit all day. So, I could shop!
