My very generous husband gave me a very generous gift for my upcoming birthday (the one that ends in zero) and our also upcoming anniversary (another ends-in-zero event).
A dog on a surfboard! Just what I’ve always wanted!
Well, actually, an iPad. I was/am stunned.
After I get over my shock, I’ll need to load ‘er up. If you have an iPad, or covet one enough to have done some window shopping, tell me what I should get! (And P.S., I don’t have anything Mac or Apple–not even an iPod–so I am starting from scratch.)

let’s see, ibooks, the nyt app, the usa today app, pandora, ew must list, yahoo entertainment app, a twitter app although I have yet to find one I love, abc player, amazon.com, gilt, shop style, and kindle for the books ibooks doesn’t have.
And I’ll be interested to see what other people say.
For someone turning 30, you are so wize!
Wise! That posted before I fixed my typo…
Fun, fun, fun! Your husband rocks!
SwingDaddy brought an iPad home from work for a weekend, and by Monday, Buster was insisting on seeing videos on the “BIG iPHONE” only.
All I know is that recently, at a Steve Martin show I attended, he used one for his set list. So though I won’t be getting any iThing anytime soon, this one cannot come better recommended!
I mostly use my for web surfing, checking email, watching YouTube movies and checking the weather forecast. It’s a good way to do online window-shopping because the pages load so fast. Etsy and me, we spend a lot of time together!
It’s annoying (& difficult) to type on, I find, so I use the computer for composing blog posts or longer emails. The iPad is good for status updates.
Oh, and if you can get the iPad hooked up to your stereo, get Pandora. We have this huge stack of CDs and we only ever listen to Pandora Radio!
Podcasts you MUST listen to regularly — I listen to these while I’m working on tedious stuff — Radiolab, This American Life, Planet Money. The New Yorker does a fiction podcast which is sometimes fun to listen to, also. On our last long car drive, I ‘rented’ some Mythbusters episodes for my kids to watch; the screen is big enough that they can watch it together, and the iPad has a speaker (unlike the iPod) so they can listen together, too.
My kids like to draw using Adobe Ideas. You can import pictures and then modify them. Like, you can draw a mustache on your brother’s face. It’s SO FUNNY! : )
I have no idea, but I am jealous.
Like Magpie, I’ve no clue but am remarkably jealous. And I can’t believe you’ve attained so much and are only 29.
Fun! What a great surprise. I can’t wait to see it in action at BlogHer. I love playing Sudoku on my iTouch.
Jeal. Ous.
Enjoy it. I have zero experience with apple technology, but oh how I wish I did.
Yay! You should get Words With Friends so we can play together! I also have the Weather Channel, USA Today, Amazon Kindle and BN aps, WebMD, What’s the Difference is fun, also Plants vs. Zombies, Rush Hour, Pinball HD. I like to make lists so I got Toodledo. Color&Draw is good to keep the kids occupied as well. My kids and I also like the Stars, Planets and GoSkyWatch aps. They are interesting and very cool.
whoa! what an awesome gift! I’ve always wanted to watch dogs on surfboards on demand!
